The breathtaking Grand Canyon in the state of Arizona is probably known all over the world. The mighty gorge of the Colorado River is one of the largest in the world. Countless viewpoints in the associated national park reveal the beauty of this natural wonder from different angles.

Statue of Liberty, New York

The famous Miss Liberty has greeted New York visitors for centuries and is considered the best-known symbol of the United States. The monument in honour of American independence was a gift from France in 1886. The visit to Liberty Island is free and the view of the Manhattan skyline is stunning.

Disney World, Florida

Presidential heads at Mount Rushmore, South Dakota

In a rock face of the Black Hills is a very special eye-catcher. The most important presidents of the United States at the time, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln, have been looking down on the awestruck visitors here since October 1941. A circular walkway, viewing platform, information boards, visitor centre and souvenir shop form a veritable theme park around the four presidents' heads in Mount Rushmore.

Empire State Building, New York

If you visit New York City, you simply have to go up to the Empire State Building! The striking Art Deco skyscraper is one of the most famous in the world - be it because of its aesthetics, its dominance of the New York skyline or various appearances in film and television. At just under 400 metres, the Empire State Building is not even particularly tall, but it was the world's tallest building for 40 years - longer than any other building to date.

Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco
