Visit to Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi
Ferrari World is located about half an hour's drive from the city centre, very close to the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 circuit. Tickets can be reserved online in advance. These tickets are sometimes cheaper than the admission prices on site and avoid long waits at the ticket offices. With a Silver or Gold ticket, queues in front of the rides can also be avoided, although this is rarely necessary due to the low number of visitors (and can also be purchased later in the event).
Tip: If you also want to visit Waterworld on Yas Island, you should take advantage of the Two Park Pass offer with discounted admission to both attractions. This is hardly more expensive than a single ticket for Ferrari World.
Attractions at Ferrari World
On a gigantic area of around 25 hectares, of which 8 hectares are covered, 20 different attractions delight Ferrari fans young and old. Depending on your interest in the exhibitions and waiting times at the rides, you should plan 5-7 hours for a visit to Ferrari World.
Those who have always wanted to feel like a real Ferrari Formula 1 driver can test their driving skills on the in-house race track or the rally course at Ferrari World.
On the drag racing track, speed fans compete in acceleration races and the very young ones do their first laps on the go-kart track. There are even special taster courses for racing beginners.
Rollercoaster: From 0 to 100 in 2.9 seconds
The highlight of the rides at Ferrari World is the "Formula Rossa", the fastest roller coaster in the world. The bright red Ferrari cars reach top speeds of up to 240 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 in 2.9 seconds. After the rocket-like start in the air-conditioned hall, the rest of the 1.5-minute ride takes you through the desert - protective goggles against flying sand at the start included.
Things are not quite as hot on the Fiorano GT Challenge, which is a good 1 km long. The roller coaster cars, which by the way were modelled on the Ferrari F430 Spider, "only" accelerate to 95 km/h here. The other attractions are mainly designed for children (who are seen as future customers) and some of them have to be paid extra.
Exhibitions and demonstrations at Ferrari World
The Ferraris themselves are, of course, the focal point of the exhibitions in Ferrari World. The design history of Ferrari can be traced on the basis of numerous models from the past to the present. By the way, the first Ferrari dealer in the region is on site and will be happy to take your orders....
In addition to the highly polished cars, films, photos, exhibits and documents in architecturally impressive halls and a multimedia centre provide information about the cult called Ferrari. Its complete history with all its ups and downs on the road and on the racetrack is presented in detail from its foundation by Enzo Ferrari to the present day.
Creation of Ferrari World
The decision for the theme park in Abu Dhabi was made in 2005 by Aldar Properties PJSC and the Ferrari Group itself. Three years later, construction work began and on 4 November 2010, Ferrari World opened its doors to visitors as the largest indoor theme park in the world.
However, the demand was much lower than expected and after only one year of operation, the opening hours were shortened and about 100 employees had to be dismissed due to the low capacity utilisation.
